The Specialized S-Works Epic 8 EVO Di2 takes the Epic platform further into downcountry, combining the efficiency required for fast climbing with the suspension capability needed when trails become technical and demanding.
The S-Works build brings together an S-Works FACT 12m carbon frame, FOX Factory suspension, a Shimano XTR Di2 electronic drivetrain, Roval Control SL VI carbon wheels and a 4iiii power meter integrated into the Shimano XTR crankset.
The Epic 8 EVO is an evolution of the Epic 8 platform developed for riders who want to go beyond traditional XC riding and tackle faster singletrack and more technical descents without giving up pedalling efficiency.
Its suspension kinematics and chassis are designed to balance climbing efficiency with increased capability over rough terrain, making the EVO platform suited to riders who want to ride XC trails at a faster pace while having more suspension performance available for technical sections.
The heart of the bike is the S-Works FACT 12m Carbon frame, featuring Progressive XC Race Geometry and Rider-First Engineered™ design. The rear suspension provides 120mm of travel and uses a carbon shock extension.
The frame also incorporates SWAT downtube storage, a threaded bottom bracket, internal cable routing and a 12x148mm UDH-compatible rear dropout. It is optimized for wireless drivetrain and seatpost systems.
Up front, the bike uses a FOX 34 SL Factory fork with a GRIP X damper and 130mm of travel. It features HSC, LSC and LSR adjustment, a 44mm offset and a 15x110mm axle.
The rear suspension is handled by a FOX FLOAT Factory EVOL LV shock with Ride Dynamics tuning and two-position compression adjustment. The shock measures 190x45mm and works with the Epic 8 EVO's 120mm of rear travel.
This combination is designed to retain an efficient pedalling platform while giving the EVO version additional capability when the trail becomes rougher and more demanding.
The drivetrain is built around Shimano XTR Di2. The electronic rear derailleur operates a 12-speed XTR 10-51T cassette, providing a wide gearing range for both steep climbs and faster sections of trail.
The Shimano XTR 9200 crankset uses a 32-tooth chainring and integrates a 4iiii power meter, allowing riders to monitor pedalling power during training and racing.
The Roval Control SL VI wheelset is one of the highlights of the S-Works build. It uses hookless carbon rims with a 29mm internal width, Tubeless Ready construction, 24 holes and Industry Nine Solix hubs.
The wheel build also features Roval carbon spokes with titanium end pieces and Center Lock mounting.
At the front, the bike uses a Specialized Purgatory 29x2.4" with GRID casing, T9 compound and TLR technology. The rear uses a Specialized Ground Control 29x2.35" with Grid Lite casing, T5/T7 compound and TLR technology.
The different tire setup reflects the bike's intended use, combining additional support and control at the front with a more efficient rear tire configuration.
Braking is handled by Shimano XTR 9220 hydraulic brakes with 4-piston calipers and 180mm rotors front and rear.
This braking system complements a platform designed not only for traditional XC riding, but also for faster and more technical trail sections.
The cockpit features a Roval Control Rise Carbon handlebar, 780mm wide with 20mm rise and a 35mm clamp. The stem is an Industry Nine A35, 50mm.
The FOX Factory Transfer Neo dropper post uses a 30.9mm diameter, with travel varying according to frame size.
