🆕 The Shimano Dura-Ace PD-R9300 brings the new SPD-SLR platform to road cycling, introducing a new pedal-to-cleat interface designed to create a more direct connection between the shoe and pedal.
The design combines an extra-wide platform, an ultra-low stack height and an injection-moulded carbon composite body, designed to provide high stability and efficient power transfer.
⚡ The heart of the PD-R9300 is the new SPD-SLR pedal-to-cleat interface.
Compared with the previous SPD-SL platform, Shimano has redesigned the interface to bring the foot closer to the pedal axle and provide a more immediate engagement.
The new interface reduces the stack height by 2.3 mm and introduces a wider engagement area with a 10.5° engagement angle, compared with 15.5° for the previous SPD-SL platform.
🎯 The extra-wide platform of the PD-R9300 provides a large contact area between the shoe and pedal, designed to maximise stability and power transfer.
The pedal body is made from injection-moulded carbon composite, while an integrated stainless steel contact plate contributes to the stiffness of the interface and engagement performance.
⚙️ Shimano developed the PD-R9300 axle with wide bearings, designed to distribute loads more evenly.
According to Shimano, this design increases stiffness by 11% compared with the previous PD-R8200, while the heat-treated axle and optimised bearing surfaces reduce rotational resistance by 53% compared with the same reference model.
🔧 The engagement and release tension can be adjusted to suit individual preferences.
🟡 The PD-R9300 is supplied with Shimano SPD-SLR CL-SL110 cleats.
The CL-SL110 cleats provide 6° of angular float, designed to offer greater comfort and help reduce stress on the joints.
⚠️ The new SPD-SLR system introduces a new dedicated interface. SPD-SLR cleats are compatible with existing Shimano SPD-SL road cycling shoes, but they are not compatible with previous SPD-SL pedals.
Shimano has developed the new platform as an ecosystem combining SPD-SLR pedals, cleats and compatible road cycling shoes.
