Maxxis Forekaster Gen 2 29x2.40 EXO TR 60 TPI MaxxTerra MTB Tire

Maxxis Forekaster Gen 2 29x2.40

The Maxxis Forekaster Gen 2 is designed for modern short-travel mountain bikes, particularly the downcountry segment, as well as Cross Country and Trail riding.

Rather than focusing exclusively on XC speed, the Forekaster aims for a more complete balance between fast rolling and traction when the trail becomes more technical. Its tread pattern is designed to provide predictable braking, climbing and cornering performance.

MaxxTerra Compound

This version uses the MaxxTerra compound, developed by Maxxis to balance traction, tread life and rolling resistance.

It is a versatile option for riders looking for a tire that sits between compounds focused specifically on maximum rolling speed and those prioritizing maximum grip.

60 TPI Casing and EXO Protection

The 60 TPI casing provides a balance of flexibility and durability suited to XC and Trail riding. The sidewalls feature EXO protection, made from a densely woven and flexible material designed to improve resistance to cuts and abrasion.

EXO protection is designed to increase sidewall durability without significantly compromising tire flexibility.

Tubeless Ready

Tubeless Ready (TR) technology allows the Forekaster to be used in a tubeless setup with a compatible rim and appropriate sealant.

A tubeless setup allows lower pressures than a traditional inner-tube configuration, helping improve traction and control while reducing the risk of pinch flats.

A versatile XC and Trail tire

The Forekaster Gen 2 is designed for riders looking for a tire capable of handling different trail conditions without giving up efficient rolling performance.

Maxxis lists the Forekaster for XC and Trail use and recommends it for both front and rear applications. The 29x2.40 version is also optimized for rims with an internal width of 30 to 35 mm.
